Happy Valentines Day!

Here is what I gave hubby for valentines day. Last night when we got home from a b-day party it literally took me 5 mins to write out all the post-it notes and put them up for him to find this morning when he put his contacts in. Some of them said Sweet, Complimentary, Mr Goodwrench, Intelligent, Man of God.....and so on. I wrote many. And then used lip gel to write on the mirror, "How do I Love Thee"....
"Let Me Count Thy Ways"
Excuse me looking all revealing but this was the best picture!
I got him a nickel coated door latch to put on my front door (that's been broken for a year) at Ollie's for $2.99.
The kids and I made valentines for him too. I forgot to take a pic of R's. But here is Aliana's.
They are two paper bags with holes punched in them, tied with ribbon. She has hershey kisses cut out of a magazine, cause her and daddy like to share them together. There is also wildlife on there. A Duck, bunny, and a baby deer. She was quite proud of this.
And then the inside had a verse out of epehesians about love.
It was signed "Nana" as this is what she calls herself these days.

I found this idea on a friends zanga site. (Are they blogs?) She actually is preschooling her daugther at home and made an ABC book with paper bags. Each day they do a different letter. And sometimes make special games that they can then tuck into the bags and store them then. I thought it was a great idea, of course her's was much fancier then mine. So I decided to do the valentines.

Hope your day was special with your special someone!

The Mattress

Every once in a great while, I have these funny things that happen that are totally worth sharing. I found a 6 month old mattress on CL. It was advertised that it had been on a top bunk for 4 1/2 months and not been slept on, and the couple's daughter slept on it for a month and a half. They we're asking $30.00. It was a 45 minute drive to look at it. So I called and asked my neighbor if she wanted to come along. She is 60ish and sits home all day with nothing to do, but watch tv. I thought this way I can run in and out and feel a little safer in the whole process.
So a "Carl" calls me (I've been off the computer now for a little and thought nothing of it) he said are you still interested in the mattress. I said yes, and so I set the ride up with lots of snacks and fun things for the kids to do. They did do really really good! We drove to norristown, I got a little lost, which is unusual for me, I am pretty good with directions. I got them from carl. His street was hidden. So I get there, shake the guys hand who answers the door look at it, sit and lay on it, and decide this is a magnificent deal, it was brand new. They always used a mattress pad cover on it and everything. So I pay shake the guys hand again and load up my mattress with much glee!
I start driving down the road and this red car has me blocked from turning out onto the main highway, I was a little confused as to what was going on, all the sudden my phone rings, it's carl. He says did you make it yet? I said excuse me, he asked me if I got to the house yet and if I got to look at the mattress. I said yeah...I was just at your house, don't you remember. He said Oh..you met my life partner John. He went on to explain that he does hair for a living and that he just couldn't make it in enough time and so he asked john to be there. I shook john's hand and said thanks carl, and he never said anything. When I greeted, I said hi I'm jenny, are you carl and he shook his head.
We got to BK to get the kids some food. I am waiting in the drivethru and I said to my neighbor nola, how on earth am I ever going to tell my husband that I bought a mattress from a gay couple? She replied, just don't tell him. Well I did tell him, he did point out the obvious, they are usually really really clean. When I got home I saw the e-mail address was johnandcarl@ and I thought the carl@ was carla. And so it was john and carla. I don't know why it didn't stick out when he called and said this is carl.
Oh well it was a laugh right!

My Girl's Room

I am in need of ideas on what to do with my girlie's room. I have embraced the pink a little! My friend just painted her girls room "Pepto Bismal" pink and that's a little much for me, I mean I like it, but it's not for me. I found this bedspread at the JcPenneys outlet for super cheap, I want to say $10.00. You can see the pom-poms on it, the cats have been eating them off one by one. But it's pretty neutral, which I like. And she's in a captains bed. It has 3 drawers underneath, lots of storage (a freebie from a friend).

Have you ever been to the dollar tree? They have lots of fun stickers that you can reuse again, and again. When I find them I stock up on them. We have Lightning McQueen one's in rowans room. It's such a great deal you get like 20+ stickers for $1. I looked them up online and they are anywhere from $19.99 to $39.99. So this is a steal to say the least. The above "Princess" stickers I found at a yard sale last spring for $ .50 I think the girls are cute but I don't love the whole "Princess" thing. So this is temporary for now. I just needed to put something in her room as it is so blah. I would love any ideas!

This weekend our church will be hosting the fireproof movie. Friday evening at 7pm, saturday evening at 7pm and sunday at 3pm. If you have not seen this movie, I encourage you to come. I know the biggest buzz is, well......it's kirk cameron. And so you probably remember him being a big actor in the 80"s on that show called "Growing Pains" Maybe you remember the media about him. But let us remember "All" are forgiven. And "We" all have a past, so now let us move forward.

All the actors are incredible in this movie. And the storyline touches every marriage in some way. Your marriage may not be falling to pieces and it's at the best it's ever been or it is falling apart. Either way you need to see this movie. The dynamic "Never Leave Your Partner Behind" has been the biggest for me. I have always been independant and not wanting to rely on my hubs for anything. Yet I was going..going..going without him, not involving him in my daily tasks even though he was not here. And you just get to this point where you make plans and do things without checking with him first or just take him along for the ride?

Communication...have we not all heard this many times before. But it is so so so crucial!

I don't want to preach here. Come see the movie, it's free.
